Grantmaking

Inglewood Youth Education Fund

The Greater Los Angeles Education Fund (GLAEF) is pleased to be the home of the Inglewood Youth Education Fund (IYEF), a remarkable $12,750,000.00 endowment dedicated to enhancing educational opportunities for youth in Inglewood, California.

This substantial endowment will provide long-term support to nonprofit organizations and initiatives that address the educational needs of Inglewood’s youth. By partnering directly with trusted community organizations, GLAEF aims to create a lasting and positive impact through a diverse range of educational programs.

Programs to be funded by the new endowment include initiatives addressing the following five focus areas:

1. After-School Tutoring:  for Inglewood student tutoring and enrichment.

2. Youth Innovation and STEM Design Camps: for developing and operating coding, science, technology, and engineering camps.

3. Keeping Students in School: for discouraging Inglewood high school students from dropping out.

4. Opening Pathways to College: for expanding counseling and supporting students seeking a post-secondary education.

5. College Scholarships: for scholarships for Inglewood students with high financial need in the Inglewood Unified School District who are accepted for either a two-year or four-year college.

As GLAEF prepares to launch IYEF, we are asking organizations with a history of work in Inglewood to complete a short intake form capturing their focus, strategies, and existing programs. This form is part of an ongoing landscape analysis that will inform the strategy and goals for IYEF. Deadline for Submission is Sunday, September 22, 2024 at 11:59 p.m.
